E38 - System of a Down Market

01. News

We both ended up playing games this week for the first time since the fxhash release last November. Ten months with no gaming is probably a personal record for both of us :|
-
Will has been playing
, which is a simplified version of Magic: The Gathering
* Trinity has been playing, a mobile-optimized version of League of Legends
NFT Show Europe Drops

We had the extreme pleasure of interviewing Andreas Rau and Marcelo Soria-Rodriguez on their recent collaboration, Toccata. Listen on Spotify (above), Apple Podcasts, or the podcast application of your choice.

With the indexer down for part of this week we got to see a lot more of our namesake image! You both hate and love to see it :)
02. Projects of the Week

Heads up folks -- Julia V isn't sticking to just image composition anymore! Keep on eye on her future releases.

The base images for Obliques are sourced from the CC0 (public domain) images from Marc Maurer's Parallels collection.

There is a clear progression between Zbageti and Take Wing that is absolutely beautiful.
Our first (and only, as of now) topical episode on flipping goes deeper into some of the poker analogues we discuss here.

There is lovely variation between the different pieces of Take Wing. Some are punchy and flair out with color.

Other pieces lean into gentle waves and more of a monochromatic palette.

Again, there is a clear through-line that can be seen across all of Melissa's work.
We strongly encourage everyone to take a look at Melissa's website to learn more about her and her art.

This project totally is reminiscent of an NES cartridge circuit board!

#285 has the 'Iso' trait, which is represented by diagonal lines.

'Oversize = true' is a rare trait that depicts thicker lines.

Murals is another fantastic release by nbswwit that we regret overlooking way back in May

Anna is one of the many artists who have crossed over from Art Blocks to fxhash. Her project, Trossets, is absolutely beautiful.

Piter Pasma's Gonzion is similar to Redols in its basic amazingness that is tempered by a relative lack of dramatic variety.

Redols #60 stands out from some others in the series.

Find more of Anna's work on her website.

Don't forget to run the token! The animation brings the sense of depth to life.

You can follow cloudnoise on Instagram to see more architecture-inspired pixel art (and more)

Will thinks that his pink one is a stand-out in the collection. Despite that, he is looking to sell to help recoup tez for any future Contrapuntos buying.

Some are barely breaking the circular pattern of Iteration 1

Others seemingly leverage the flow fields that are quickly becoming a Landlines signature

Some retain strict rigidity and hard lines
Kittie was a Trinity staple twenty years ago....sometimes you have to live in the past a bit.
03. Shoutouts

This piece has some major Sediment vibes going on.

Meridian vibes, ish

Queue more angsty music from 20+ years ago

Chris McCully keeps changing the vibes! We love the experimentation!
