01. News
Look, starting out with an unwatchable Youtube embed isn't the greatest way to start out our article, but we promised videos of Steve O getting a tattoo while off-roading and we keep our promises. Click through, relive the early 2000s, and come back for something a little more high brow.
In weirdly related news, we recorded a delightful interview with the famous Leander 'Lenny' Herzog, who is an absolute advocate of using code to create moving images vs static jpegs.

This take is remarkably similar to what we heard when talking to Lisa Orth earlier this year -- she is an advocate of leveraging the medium to create new styles of art instead of replicating historical styles. If you haven't heard it, queue it up!
02. Projects of the Week
Oyoyiz

The latest release from Eltono is one of our absolute favorites, coming off of a series of super solid projects from beta. Arrangement is his fxhash genesis, while Divisio(X) was a very ambitious 1000 piece work that ended up getting reduced to 420 (natch) during the Big Burn.

'Brutalist' is relatively rare trait that is formed of hard edges and angles rather than the standard organic lines.

The 'Glow in the Dark' palette is one of the many consistencies between Oyoyiz and Eltono's previous work.

'Chewing Gum' and 'Punto Rosa' are two new, super fun palettes that the artist has brought to this work.

Trinity finds Oyoyiz to be playful much in the nature of Presstube's work, such as Lemon Princess.

Eltono has projects on Art Blocks, as well. Swing is still available to mint, for any interested!

Arrangement #1 is quite a unique iteration within the genesis project.

Will views this project as one that lends itself to collecting multiples, both from a 'collect 'em all' perspective in addition to create amazing diptychs, as possible in #27 and #31 below.

Space Reflections

Pixelfiller is known for using neural networks in their projects, and Space Reflections is the first one that contains movement. Other than that (major) aspect, the project is reminiscent to broken dimensions.

Much of the artist's prior popular work, such a neurobugs and Latent Garden have been based in the organic world. Despite that, lumberjack Will has collected several!

Collector lemonde2d (and friend of the show) has set the high sale with this beautiful red piece for 85 tez.

Primordial

We both have absolute love for **DBA's second release on fxhash, and for this trend of fluid abstract movement through space that really took off with Turner Light. You can see more projects that reflect this style in our E37 fxtext article.

Primordial is a follow-up to Bound, and although it is abstract rather than representational, there is a consistent use of excellent line work to tie (pun not intended) the two releases together.

Will has a strong preference for the 'Fill' trait, which has the color fields bleed through the entire canvas. Following the adage to always be listed, he sold #48 for 200 tez, well above the floor at the time.

Primordial lends itself to natural diptychs, triptychs, and beyond (as seen below) due to the consistent color patterning apparent in 'Horizontal' and 'Vertical' pieces. However, this tendency may also limit the sense of true variety throughout the 256 editions of the project.

CENTURY-XXX-METAFRANKE

It has been a minute since REAS has blessed us with an fxhash release, and it's thrilling to see the start of the second CENTURY-XXX collection. If this is anything like the first, we should expect to see four more projects in the coming weeks or months.
The subtle movement in METAFRANKE is slow, on a pixel by pixel basis. This steady state-change is a throwback to the first series, most notably METAMOLNAR and METAKELLY. (Don't forget to press the 'run' button!)

METAFRANKE also has a relative lack of diversity across outputs, which is part of the beauty of a project like this. The notable exceptions are pieces that display a more vibrant palette, or those that are in grayscale.

Ephemera

It feels like forever since we've been waiting for a new release from Lindow, and he doesn't disappoint. We had the absolute pleasure of interviewing early this year, which you can listen to below:
This is only his second project since beta ended in May, with over five months since his prior release, Desert Sun Rising.

We both absolutely adore the richness of colors, and it's a blast to flip through the different palettes, which are based on times of day and how the light of the sun floods the landscape from sunrise to sunset.
There are only two pieces that are '6:00 AM', and they form a natural diptych. Look at those colors go, wow!

Ephemera and Desert Sun Rising are beautiful generative landscapes, and are a large divergence from the majority of Lindow's earlier work which is primarily on the abstract side.

The framing around the pieces may be controversial. Will isn't a huge fan, but Trinity finds that it helps provide depth and dimension. Take a look at the 'Thin', 'Filled', and 'None' variations below and see what you prefer :)

MJ Lindow has shown a variety of WIP on Twitter, and across a variety of styles. Perhaps the next release will be in the style of his prior work.

GRAPHEME

Sarah Ridgley is back with her second project on the platform! Her first, Eyeshadow Roses, was featured as a part of one of the first fxhash live minting experiences at Art Basel Hong Kong.

Will loves his mint, which features circular cutouts that make a bld statement.

Read more about Sarah's process for creating the piece in her incredibly informative thread:
The boldness of the silkscreen-like pieces is right up Will's alley, especially those that have rich, deep colors like #83 and #206.

Trinity's preference is for pop-like pink ones, which is a reminder to check out her 'Pretty in Pink' grail grid over on Tender.

She also recognizes a general bias towards brighter outputs. A notable exception is in whitekross's Annihilate This Week, which looks stunning in 'Klee (Alt)', amonth other palettes.

We both absolutely adore the on-point slicing that present in #172.

Check out Sarah's website to learn more about her and her projects elsewhere.
Curlida

Curlida isn't artist ivposure's first work on fxhash, but it is certainly a breakout! Its smashing success follows in the footsteps of other flowy, fun work work from earlier this month by teaboswell and gpitombo.

When watching Curlida fly through the sales feed, it made us both think of the 'Small' size Fragments of Wave, especially in #38.

Ivposure's prior work may have gone under the radar, but is similarly rich and textured; don't forget to check them out.

03. Shoutouts
Release

We absolutely love this project by monokai, which is unbelievably still available at the time of publication.
Collapse

100% push play to watch the trippy animation on this release from Jonas Lund. The moire effects that are created are spot-on and fantastic.
chorégraphie

Another project to run to experience both its audio and animation. It has minted out since we finished recording, but there are still pieces on the marketplace below or near mint price; surprising given that MONUMENTS: Kingdom of Utu was considered one of the top projects of early beta.

Ailerons

Chris McCully is back at it yet again! The interplay of light, shadow, and texture on Ailerons is stunning.
Encoder

Platform staple nudoru is slowly but steadily dropping more work and upping his game each time. Will was convinced that this was a cooly twisted Sequence the first time he saw it flow through the sales feed.

tratti

This collaboration is wonderful and playful cross between the work of artists whitekross and Emanuele Pasin.

Possible Ways

This fxhash genesis project from MCHX a delightfully generative version of their work on other platforms, which often leverages AI in its creation. Don't forget run the project to see the animation.

04. Looking Ahead

Well, that's it folks! If you made it this far, we thank you and love you. Have a wonderful rest of your day, and don't forget to buy an article at a price that feels right to you.
