01. News

- Interview with Kylo

It's been a long time coming, and we finally had a chance to sit down with renowned collector and community member, Kylo, to chat about his life in the generative art community and his thesis on collecting. Absolutely check it out -

- Interview with Melissa

We also had the opportunity to talk with super star Melissa Wiederrecht about her life in creative coding and absolute rise in the generative art community in a relatively short period of time. She'll be releasing a new project, Cosmic Rays, on Verse on February 10 - absolute check it out.

After watching the video below we think we're signing up for (at least) a mint and very large print.

- Genuary releases

Genuary is an annual event honorarily hosted by Piter Pasma where creative coders spend each day of the month setting out to complete a unique prompt. This year, fxhash decided to celebrate in a mint event similar to the fx(anniversary) -- artists can mint a 32 edition project for 32 tez for collection. We aren't the biggest fan of the late-announced format, but we did appreciate revdancatt's entry -

- Payments on fxhash

We are all well versed on how to buy art on fxhash via tez - it is the natural way. It has been a few weeks since the integration of credit card payments for primary purchases, and credit is now available on the secondary market! Our wallets have never been so open or in so much danger.

Rumor, as per the fxhash Discord, has it that we will soon be able to pay in ETH for tokens that will remain on Tezos. How this will work we don't know, but anything that helps convert more collectors to our side is very welcome. Hopefully more info will be forthcoming.

- Tax season is upon us

Don't forget to do your taxes, people. That's it, that's the tweet. If you're not sure the best way to handle your crypto taxes, we both used Koinly to great effect last year.

02. Market index updates

This week marks the first monthly index update in addition to the weekly we've been doing! The thread below includes some of our primary insights across both -

03. Buys of the week

Trinity had another (unexpectedly) busy week on the secondary. Erik Swahn has been releasing a tantalizing set of WIPs across social media in recent weeks, and when a Punktwelt with a horizon was listed below floor, she had to have it.

Ada Ada Ada's gorgeous project, Klyft, from the Art Basel Paris event, saw some action this week and Trinity picked up some new pieces to fill out her collection. Note well that this project is under 5% listed!

Things went a little crazy mid-week when Trinity elected to finally get a set of MID-CENTURY MODERN and Herbarium by the absolutely wonderful Aleksandra. After a few hours of pondering, she then proceeded to buy two full sets of the CHROMATLAS series. Read the thread below...what do you think?

04. Projects of the week

- For Algernon

For Algernon
For Algernon by elsif · fxhash

For Algernon brought us all back to high school English class with its heady reference to the story of perfection achieved before slowly receding into nothing. We love the smooth and poignant dispersal of the flowers into abstract color fields that blur across the entirety of the canvas. Critically, For Algernon has already been added to the Tender Icons list, a huge achievement!

Clerestory is Perusse's long-awaited follow up to Theatergoers from nearly ten months ago. Mimicking the divisions and color play present in stained glass windows, the extensive variety present in the project ensures that nearly everyone will find a piece that they enjoy.

05. Shoutouts

- Inner Chaos

Inner Chaos
Inner Chaos by Collapsar Beauty · fxhash

Inner Chaos is Collapsar Beauty's third project in as many months and following the secondary collapse (pun not intended) of Kyma, it was avoided by speculators and unfortunately burned.

- Dubber Be Gooder To Me

Dubber Be Gooder To Me by revdancatt · fxhash

We love revdancatt and his is-it-or-is-it-not image composition projects. Dubber Be Gooder To Me was airdropped to holders of Dub Be Good To Me. The larger non-grids in the piece are stellar at bringing more of the photography to light, which we very much enjoy.

Iteration is Usually Recursive (Pt. 1) by charlie · fxhash

fxhash team member charlie is completing a deep dive into the history of generative art with the first of (what appears to be a series) of projects that are dedicated to classic pieces from the past. This one is based on the work of Georg Nees, and you can read all about it in the accompanying fxtext article.

- The Artifact

Professor clausewilke is back with a new long form project that is incredibly diverse. Don't let the features and rarity fool you; The Artifact is meant to valued on aesthetics alone with some of the best looking outputs the most common.
